Pest Control
It would be a perfect world if gardening indoors meant no pests or disease, but unfortunately this is not the case. It is helpful to accept that a garden, be it indoors or outdoors may have a few bugs. Trying to eliminate every living thing besides the plants can be frustrating and near impossible. Bugs and disease are useful indicators about the health of our gardens, including both the plants and the environment.
Being proactive against bugs and disease is the best way to prevent an infestation. Taking time to look at your garden daily is critical. Our Active Eye Microscope makes looking for pests and disease a lot easier than just the naked eye. You may notice signs and symptoms of a problem early making it easier to treat.
Keeping a clean garden is also very important. Removing dead leaves, stagnant water and cleaning all pots and equipment between uses is essential. Implementing a regular schedule of preventative care is key, and extremely important when bringing new plants into the garden. Plants from other people are often the source of bugs and disease and should be given extra attention and treatment.
We believe that pest and disease problems can be addressed with natural, low toxicity products and practice this in our stores and in our own gardens, with success.
